Flag Bookmarks — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 06, 2026
TL;DR — Nothing leaves your browser

Flag Bookmarks ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that lets users place visual flag markers on webpages to bookmark specific scroll positions. This policy explains what data the Extension handles and how.

What data we collect

The Extension stores the following information, and only this information, when you create a flag:

We do not collect: your name, email, browsing history beyond pages you explicitly flag, analytics, cookies, IP addresses, or any personally identifiable information.

Where your data is stored

All flag data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. It is not transmitted to any external server, third party, or analytics provider. We do not operate a backend server of any kind for this Extension.

How your data is used

Flag data is used solely to render flag markers on webpages and to power the Dashboard view, where you can see, search, edit, and delete your saved flags. It exists only to provide the Extension's core functionality to you.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with any third party, advertiser, or analytics service, because no such transfer mechanism exists in the Extension.

Permissions explained

Data deletion

You can delete individual flags, all flags from a specific site, or all flags entirely at any time from the Dashboard. Uninstalling the Extension also removes all locally stored flag data from your browser.

Children's privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, since no data ever leaves the user's own device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
